NFL Quiz - Attempt 1

Right, so I literally did this in a day...
I might use this as my final piece, completely re-do it, or use it as PART of a finished product.
Depends...

Context 1 - Creative Practice Development

Right, so the first thing ive learnt is that i need to start writing things down....
Otherwise i end up doing the work LAST MINUTE...and im trying to get out of that habit!

So, Creative Practice Development!
What have you done throughout the holdidays to contribute to your multimedia knowledge?

Well, im glad you asked because i've done quite a bit:

I was quite impressed with what I could create in flash from the first term, so I went away and researched some other cool things i could do with flash cs4. I touched up my knowledge of tweening, and had a look at further user-interface-interaction such as input fields and selection boxes.
The majority of this information / research was undertaken online, through video / text tutorials. I also found a lot of inspiration on Deviant Art!

After doing a lot more work on my flash abilities, I went on to continue designing websites for clients. (I wanted to incorporate my new found flash knowledge into a site template)
I went on to create the designs for a Custom Dating Website specified specifically for university students. I am also in the process of re-designing a site for a Media Services Provider (MSP) based in New York and some templates for a Cleaning Service.
Inspiration for my designs was once again found on deviantart, webdesignmag.com, and other media sites. I also looked at various Content Management Systems (CMS) to help me add some fucntionality to the designs; Joomla and Expression Engine!

Furthermore, as I knew we were going to do start some 3D work in the future I decided to download Blender, which is a 3D freeware mac program. As I had already used Cobalt, (3D Software for the PC) throughout sixthform i was pretty confident going into it...however soon found out it was NOTHING like what I was used to.
Rather than continuing to learn a new interface now, I have decided to wait till we start using 3D Studio Max to really get into it!

Im summary, video tutorials have been the most helpful resource to me for my development in the subject.

DP2 - Flash GAMING!

Haha, so we had to find and compare two flash games for the Interactive Media seminar with Dr. Downes.
THE GREAT FLASH GAME:

Bloons Tower Defence!

Now this game has to be one of my favourites! My addiction to Tower Defence Games has grown ever since i first played 'Budapest Defenders' about 2 years ago.
The 'fun' graphics combined with funky weapons, and the traditional 'strategy orientated gaming' assossiated with TD is brilliant.

Alongside this, what makes this game so GREAT, is the amount of levels. Often i feel the gameplay of TD games are limited to the number of levels. This has an option for 'continued' gameplay...which basically means INFINITE PLAYTIME "wooooo"!

Soo much fun!

THE POOR FLASH GAME:

DP2 - Interactive Quiz 2010!

So its time i got back into updating this journal of mine!
Last week we had the first of the seminars provided to help us make the new flash quiz for DP2.

It was a basic lesson to refresh us on what we had learnt in term one, and also to teach us the fundamentals of a multi choice quiz with an accumulative final score.

This week ive been working on ways to include a loading bar at the beginning of the flash file, (as this was something that i thought i needed after reflecting on my first flash piece) - The Halo Narrative.

I have also decided that I will be doing a sport based quiz, either mixed disciplines or perhaps on the NFL!
